Take Advantage of Chicago IT Outsourcing

Friday, January 15th, 2010

If I could restart my small business from day one and regain all of my experience, I could save thousands of dollars and have my business be twice as large as it currently is. Sadly, I cannot do that but I can take what I have learned and help my business grow.

One of the weakest areas of my business until lately has been my small business network. I had tried to install my server software on my own, and thought I had a finished product. Little did I know that I left my server vulnerable to hackers and because of my inexperience in the field.

Had I searched for a chicago it outsourcing firm, I could have prevented the hacker from stealing all of my business information. Because I did not use a chicago it outsourcing firm, in one day I had lost all of my revenues from five years of business operations.

As soon as this occurred, I had no idea what to do. I thought it was a banking error, so I tried to contact my bank and trace the issue. They said that an electronic transfer of funds had occurred from my computer at my store.

I could not believe it. I tried to see if there was any way to rescind the transfer, but there was nothing the bank could do because my money had been transferred to another account.

Thankfully, my business was still successful, so I was able to cover my expenses for the next few months. I looked into a local firm to help me make my network more secure and prevent this from ever happening again.

They understood my situation, and we scheduled for a technician to come to my store the next day to reinstall my network.

Instead of fixing what was wrong with my installation, he said the best way was to completely reinstall the software. I was fine with this because I was willing to do whatever I could to prevent this from happening again.

Thankfully, he was able to reinstall my network in less than a business day. He made sure to replace all of the software that I had installed, and he installed this new software that would help prevent me from being susceptible to outside attacks on my server.

Thanks to the help I received from the chicago it outsourcing firm, I was able to continue with my business operations without facing fear of losing all of my funds.

Outlining Your Chicago IT Consulting Needs

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

What are your Chicago it consulting needs? Do you have a small business with just a handful of employees or are you the owner of a growing company with fifty different employees? Do you rely upon your computers mainly for correspondence and data keeping or do you run a retail business that operates on the web?

There are many considerations that you have to take into account when you think about your Chicago it consulting needs. If you own even a small business that sells items online a few short minutes offline could force you to lose out on important business.

If you can’t afford to suffer a system crash or failure you need to find a Chicago it consulting company that can provide you with superior emergency services and state of the art data backup.

If data backup is your main priority then you should also be concerned about security. Especially if these files are confidential in nature they must be stored securely and backed up securely so that you don’t ever have to worry about a security breach. It is perfectly ok to ask your consulting company how they plan on backing up these files and how they plan on protecting them.

Your business can not afford to lose or compromise data. Imagine losing all of your valuable customer contact information or billing.

What would happen to your business if your network was hacked into and all of your clients’ financial information was compromised? Unfortunately these types of situations happen every day, what can your provider do to protect your business against these catastrophes?

Emergency services are of equal importance when it comes to your IT needs. No matter how small or large your business is, if you rely upon your network you need it to be working at all times. Network crashes can result in lost sales, decreased productivity, and a host of other problems. While some emergency situations can’t be averted they can be addressed and resolved quickly.

One of the main responsibilities of your consulting company should be to help you as soon as possible should an emergency situation arise.

This means that you should be able to call a 24 hour operator that can get you in contact with your tech person or another tech person within an hour’s time. When you are losing out on business and productivity you need your system restored as quickly as possible.

The economic recession has made it increasingly difficult for small businesses to stay afloat; however, if they utilize IT outsourcing, Chicago small businesses can reduce their expenditures. It’s imperative to save money whenever possible due to the current economic climate, especially for small businesses.

Friday, December 25th, 2009

Only the biggest or most technologically advanced businesses can afford their own IT team as full-time staff. It doesn’t make sense for smaller companies to manage their own staff, however.

The majority of businesses don’t have the type of extensive computer network that justifies the employment of an IT staff. (more…)

In Need of Reliable Chicago IT Outsourcing Providers?

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

Although I had some working knowledge of computers, it was not enough to maintain my small business’s system after we started taking on a higher volume of business. I knew that I needed to find Chicago IT outsourcing providers to assist me in the upkeep of my system.

I owned a small electronics repair shop in the city. As more and more people started to skip getting their electronics repaired and just buy a new unit, my business started faltering. I had always enjoyed fixing up electronic components and restoring them so I started selling refurbished goods online instead of focusing on repairs. (more…)

Weigh the Benefits of IT Outsourcing

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

If you are the owner of a small business, your best option for computer support may be IT outsourcing. Chicago is now flooded with small business that are growing rapidly, and they all need tech support. Chicago businesses also know that they have the right to be choosey when it comes to hiring a company to outsource to.

What is the right situation to hire a full-in house IT team and when is the right time to outsource? Well, there are many things to consider that might make your decision easier.

First off, if you have a large office with more than 30 employees that depend heavily on the use of their computer, then you may think about hiring an IT person in-house. But you also need to consider that the salary your IT guy requires is significantly more than your average entry-level employee. Then there are the costs to offering benefits and vacation days.

If you do not think that you have the budget to welcome one or more IT people on staff, then seriously consider outsourcing. There are companies that will be available to you twenty-four hours a day, even after hours if there is a computer emergency.

When you find a company, ask to speak with the computer technician directly, so you can get a feel of how you communicate with him or her. If the technician talks in what we a call, “geek speak,” it is probably really hard to understand. If you are paying people a lot of money to fix and maintain your computers, you want to make sure that you are able to understand them. Otherwise your money is essentially being wasted.

Good things to ask your outsourced IT technician that relate to any computer problems are: 1) how did the problem occur? 2) How are you going to fix it? 3) How can I prevent it from occurring again?

It is better if you stick with the same technician throughout your service with the company, so he or she is already up-to-date on your business needs and computer system.

Other than that, the ball is in your court. Start searching for IT companies today and make sure they meet all of your demands.

Teaching the Benefits of IT Outsourcing

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

I am a small business owner and, because I am not savvy by any means when it comes to computers, I needed an IT outsourcing Chicago company.

A friend of mine also owns a small business, but he hired a full-time IT guy to be on his staff. When he told me about the expenses he incurred, between salary, benefits and bonuses, I thought he was crazy! Why hire an IT guy for your staff, I asked, when you can simply outsource all your IT needs?

He told me that he simply likes having someone there when he needs him.

My mind was boggled.

I tried to explain to him that, nowadays, outsourcing to a tech support Chicago firm was the best way to go, as far as small businesses were concerned. So you like someone to be around exactly when you need him? No problem.

The firm I use, I said, answers the phone after the first couple rings, works with me to solve my computer problems and then, if the problem isn’t solved within fifteen minutes, my personal technician drives right out to me in less than an hour. He carefully answers all of my questions, updates my computer on a regular basis and tells me exactly the things I need to do and the things that I shouldn’t do to keep my computers running at top-notch.

My friend was shocked to hear that such service could come from an IT outsourcing Chicago firm. Chicago is not exactly known for customer service, after all. But I insisted that the IT expert was not only extremely knowledgeable, but he broke down the technical jargon into language that I could understand. He was patient and courteous and I couldn’t believe the time he took to ensure that I knew what was going on with my computers.

By the end of my conversation, I managed to get my friend to concede to the fact that outsourcing IT needs is the better and smarter financial decision for small businesses. Unfortunately, his hired IT guy had signed a two-year contract with him and my friend is stuck paying his salary and benefits for the time being.

But at least I got my point across to him.

In Chicago, IT Outsourcing Makes Small Businesses More Competitive

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

The declining economy has gouged businesses across the board, forcing an unprecedented amount of layoffs due to declining sales as well as escalating costs. Layoffs are difficult and sad.

However, anybody who owns a business knows that layoffs can sometimes be necessary for survival, yet a hard decision to make none-the-less.

Yet there are many other cost cutting measures that can first be taken by small businesses in Chicago. IT outsourcing can save costs and trim the fat off your bottom line. It can sometimes mean the savings of several employee salaries, circumventing potential layoffs through cost-efficiency.

As health care and energy costs skyrocket, drawing in other costs is important for the survival of businesses in Chicago. IT services that are outsourced provides a cost-effective strategy that not only minimizes your costs but also gives you better services.

They have the resources to handle your system much more efficiently, essentially offering more for less. You’ll pay far less than you’d pay having your own full-time in-house team, but you get so much more.

If your tech support goes down and you have your own personnel to fix it, fast emergency support just isn’t an option.

You have to first get the right person out of bed, have him or her get dressed and come in the middle the night for a service call, which can take hours. With an outsourced team, you can call an emergency response unit and have your problem addressed in less than an hour.

If you need a house call, it can be arranged, no matter how late or if it’s a Saturday night.

Outsourced IT tech support can offer computer backup, check-up, design and streamlining for less than you’d pay a full-time team. It offers emergency service as well as routine.

You can get tech support that identically matches your needs, whether you need weekly, bi-weekly or monthly service checkups. Anytime you need them, call them on the phone and get immediate help.

You never end up paying a full-time service for time you don’t need.

It’s a much more efficient means for the computer services of the small businesses of Chicago. IT outsourcing offers them a wide computer resource that can handle any difficulty for much cheaper than an in-house team that can’t meet any situation.

You pay less, but get more, effectively maximizing the production capabilities of your office, which saves time as well as money. Getting the most bang for the buck keeps smart businesses in Chicago afloat during these stormy economic times.

In Chicago, IT Outsourcing Costs Less than In-House

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Business has gotten severely competitive for small businesses in Chicago. IT outsourcing offers an excellent way for small companies to cut their costs while getting better performance that will ultimately improve output and profit.

An outside IT consulting Chicago company can provide better services at a much lower cost than using your own people.

Small companies simply don’t have the personnel to implement internal IT tech support cost-effectively.

That difficulty comes down to how unpredictable your need for support usually is. Sometimes, a little networking, systems backup and minor repairs are all you need, and they can effectively be done by a single person in an afternoon.

Other times, your need may be overwhelming and immediate, and you’ll need a larger pool of resources to effectively handle the problem.

It’s a tough thing for business to plan and budget in Chicago. IT outsourcing allows you a level of service that’s flexible with your needs, saving resources when you don’t need them by having a larger pool of skill on hand if an emergency should arise.

It’s more cost effective to have a single large team that offers services to many than your own team personally servicing your systems.

When there’s downtime, the service isn’t wasted. When you need someone on the scene, you have the resources immediately. You spend less, but get more.

That doesn’t mean that your IT support needs to be impersonal. Most often, outsourced tech support will come from a single computer engineer who can personally get to know your system and your customized needs.

Outsourced tech support gets personal for a uniquely customized fit to meet the needs and specifications of your business. Your single networking agent will get to know your system personally, making helpful suggestions on how to do it better.

When there is an immediate need for a wide pool of services, a dire technological emergency in the middle of the night for example, you get a better network of talent to circumvent the problem.

That’s very beneficial to many small businesses in Chicago. IT outsourcing gives them a wider network of resources at a cost efficiency that’s greater than an in-house team. They work with a team of professionals for a fraction of the cost of hiring their own.
