Turning on new technology isn't enough. People keep doing what they've always done, because they don't know what they don't know. We train them with short video lessons and live sessions, and we test them with realistic phishing emails, then train the people who fall for them.
Your company is making a big investment in technology. But we can't just turn on the features and assume your users will figure them out. They won't. They'll keep doing the same things they've always done, because they don't know what they don't know.
When we upgrade the technology, we have to upgrade the users' skills too, and keep updating them as Microsoft keeps updating its cloud services and applications. That matters most with AI. This isn't learning email in the cloud, or files in the cloud. It's working with AI: asking questions, getting answers, and having it generate the emails, documents, spreadsheets, or PowerPoints you need, which you then refine, edit, and keep working on with Copilot. You guide the AI, and you do the more creative work instead of the grind. That's a muscle, and most people won't build it on their own while they're trying to get their day job done.
Here's what we do. Three kinds of training, together. Micro-video training is a guided learning path of professionally made videos, one to three minutes each, covering every Microsoft 365 product plus Copilot, Copilot Studio, and AI. Each one shows someone how to do something, so they can try it hands-on. Every few videos, a couple of quiz questions make sure they're paying attention, and they earn points as they go. A training manager at your company sees a dashboard of who's completing the training, how far they've gotten, and who needs a nudge.
Live training happens through Microsoft Teams when we put in new technology or onboard you to managed services. We set up two or three sessions at different times, and everyone picks one. It's our best chance at their full attention. They can ask questions, and everyone hears the answers, so they learn Microsoft 365, AI, and how to get support, without being bogged down by technology problems.
Phishing testing tests your users with very realistic-looking phishing attacks. Then we find out who fell for it, and we train that user. Each year we set up to four campaign types in Microsoft's Attack Simulation, and work with you on the reporting and the schedule. Campaign setup is included with our managed IT services, and it runs on Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 2, which comes with E5, E7, and the Defender Suite.
We can also put your own training on the same platform: general employee onboarding specific to your company, and learning paths and quizzes for individual roles. It takes the repetitive work out of the onboarding you do over and over, and you can see who's getting it done.
Live training is one-time, as many sessions as you need. Micro-video training is a low monthly fee, paid only for the months you use it. For example, everyone starts for the first 90 days, and then you keep a smaller number of licenses.
One more thing: leadership matters. It works best when a CEO, an executive, or an owner emails everyone: we're making a big investment in our technology, and we need everyone to train and get past not knowing what they don't know. It's meant to make the job more enjoyable by removing the grind, the errors, the delays, and the tedious, repetitive tasks. People become the directors, the guides, and the approvers, and spend more time with customers on the work they enjoy most. But they have to make time to learn, and be proactive about it.
